Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
My name is Rosalind Rosa, your new Principal at Central Middle School. I am excited and honored to serve the Gates County community. I am married and am the mother of two wonderful daughters and three spoiled dogs.
I graduated from Livingstone College (Salisbury, NC) in 1994 with a degree in Sociology. Immediately following graduation, I began working with young children, teens and adults in state operated group homes to assist them in adjusting to their new environments outside of the institutional facilities. Realizing there was a need for special education teachers, I earned my teaching certification from Elizabeth City State University (Elizabeth City, NC) in 2005 in the area of Learning Disabilities. With the desire to continue learning my craft, in 2009 I obtained my Master’s in Special Education from Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AZ).
For twenty-one years, I have had the opportunity to teach at all levels of K-12 education. I provided direct instruction to elementary students in a pull-out/push-in setting thus gaining hand-on experience with elementary curricula. In the middle school setting, I served as an Inclusion teacher, boys and girls track coach, and assistant cheerleading coach. My last assignment was in the high school setting teaching Foundations of Math I and II. I've cherished all of my positions in public education as it has allowed me to encourage and empower young minds to excel and to give the world their best. It is very much rewarding to see growth and progress in all of my students.
As learning is on-going, I sought other avenues to serve all students including students with disabilities, and students from vast social and economic backgrounds. I had the desire to reach higher levels in education, so I went back and received my Master's in School Administration (MSA) in 2023. Not only do I want to grow students, I want to grow teachers. Teachers that grow also grow students! Empowering and improving the quality of one's life for all is my motivation. I look forward to assisting your students reach the next levels in education. Go Vikings!
Sincerely,
Rosalind S. Rosa
