I am happy to be a Gatesville Elementary Dragon!
Dear Gatesville Elementary Students and Parents,
First, I would like to begin by introducing myself. I was born and reared in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. I am married with two children, two grandchildren, and a dog. I enjoy listening to music, traveling, and spending time with family.
I have been an educator for over 20 years. I was a public school teacher for 11 years, an assistant principal for 5 years, and a principal for 9 years. While I was in the classroom, I achieved National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist. My administrative experiences range from elementary to secondary. I have served on various school and district committees and boards. Later, I was hired as an adjunct professor at Elizabeth City State University to teach in the Master of School Administration and Master of Elementary Education programs. I have a doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the George Washington University. I also have a master's degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Elizabeth City State University.
I am very fortunate to have this opportunity as the principal of Gatesville Elementary School. I look forward to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff, administrators, and the community. I am truly excited about getting to know you and your child! A positive home-school relationship is imperative for our students to succeed.
