My name is Amanda Phelps Dillard. I am from Gates County, NC. I grew up in rural Gates County, where I am currently teaching. I have a seventeen-year-old daughter (Kailyn Wilson) in the twelfth grade, and I am married to my husband, James Dillard of eleven years. I graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education General Curriculum in 2009. I also obtained a Master's Degree from Chowan University in 2011 in Elementary Education K-6. I have been teaching at Gatesville Elementary School for fourteen years. I chose this as my career path after working for three years with an Autistic student outside of school after high school. I am passionate about seeing beyond the disability and watching the student grow in all aspects of life, whether mentally, academically, or emotionally.
