     Aretha Williams-Ruffin, School Counselor

Graduate of Capella University, Masters in Higher Educational Leadership; Graduate of Regent University, Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling w/ a concentration in School Counseling; Graduate of NC Wesleyan College, Bachelors in Psychology.

My daily plans consist of ensuring every student has access to the school counseling and guidance program. I support the parents and guardians of our students and I support our students' social/career/emotional goals and their learning adventures. My plans are to promote a positive team effect on our staff as we address our students' academic needs. My plans also consist of setting goals with our Principal to develop and implement a school counseling and guidance plan to promote overall student success, including mental health.

My school day consists of individual and small group counseling and conducting classroom guidance classes. During classroom guidance classes, we discuss the character traits of the month congruent with the character education pillars where students are given time to reflect and respond in different ways of using the character traits in school and in their everyday life.

I serve on the child study team, PBIS team, school improvement team (SIT), MTSS, attendance team, 504 coordinator, PPM team, ELL coordinator, open-wide food ministry and BETA club sponsor. I love being a school counselor in North Carolina.
